FED: Smuggling accused should not face death penalty -Beazley

Federal Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY says the nine Australians arrested in Bali for
alleged heroin smuggling should not face the death penalty if convicted.

Eight young men and one woman -- all aged between 18 and 29 -- were detained on Sunday
by Indonesian authorities.

Mr BEAZLEY says there's a presumption of innocence that applies in both Indonesian
and Australian courts.
