Fed: Give disgraced MP a second chance, says ALP

Federal opposition leader SIMON CREAN is supporting the political resurrection of formerQueensland Labor MP Mike Kaiser.

A spokesman for Mr CREAN says Mr KAISER should be given a second chance after resigningover a vote rorting scandal.

40-year-old Mr KAISER is expected to fill a vacancy as assistant ALP national secretary.

This follows the resignation of national ALP secretary GEOFF WALSH.

Mr CREAN'S spokesman yesterday said the party welcomes Mr KAISER'S return and believeshe shouldn't pay a lifetime penalty for voting in one electorate for a party preselectionwhen he was enrolled in another electorate.

Mr KAISER quit as a Labor MP for Woodridge in 2000 after he admitted at an inquirythat he'd falsely signed a voter enrolment form two decades ago when he was a student.
