NSW: Four women missing after southern NSW canoe trip

SYDNEY, April 26 AAP - Four women who failed to return from a canoeing trip in
south-eastern New South Wales sparked an air and ground search last night.

A police spokesman told AAP the Cooma women, aged in their early 20s, had been canoeing on
the Murrumbidgee River near Cooma when they failed to return before nightfall as previously
arranged.

He said temperatures in the area were below zero and the surrounding terrain was rugged.

The boyfriend of one of the women alerted police when they failed to meet him at a
pre-arranged pick-up point late today.
